What kinds of problems count as musculoskeletal?
Musculoskeletal means muscles, bones, joints, tendons and ligaments. Common examples are back and neck pain, shoulder problems, knee and ankle injuries, tendon pain and stiffness after an injury or surgery. If you are unsure, describe your problem when you book and we will guide you.
How soon after an injury should I see a physiotherapist?
You can usually start within the first few days. Early advice on activity and movement can help recovery. See a doctor first if you cannot put weight on the limb, there is obvious deformity, severe swelling, numbness or you suspect a fracture.
Should I use ice or heat?
For a new injury, many people find ice comfortable in the first couple of days. For stiffness or longer-lasting muscle tension, heat often feels better. Use whichever eases your symptoms, protect your skin, and ask your physiotherapist what suits your injury.
Can I keep working while I'm in treatment?
Often yes. Your physiotherapist can suggest how to adjust tasks, posture or workload while you recover. If your injury happened at work, tell us so we can explain how WSIB applies.
Is it covered by my benefits?
Musculoskeletal physiotherapy is billed as physiotherapy and is usually covered by extended health plans. Where your plan allows it, we bill your insurer directly. No referral is needed to book.
